TEAM ROSTERS:
All rosters are submitted via Event Connect. Roster Submission Deadline = Thursday, May 14th

  • Players cannot play for more than one team in the tournament. Anyone found guilty of playing an ineligible player(s) could face a protest by the opposing team and disciplinary action by the KUFC, which may include the forfeiture of points or expulsion from the tournament.
  • All players must be properly registered with their club and provincial association.
  • We rely on the honesty and integrity of all coaches and managers to adhere to registration policies.

TEAM LISTS:
Team lists are NOT required for each game and Referees will not be checking ID cards before every game.

In the event that a playerʼs eligibility is questioned, the individual will need to produce either of the following:

  • A physical club or provincial player ID card
  • A letter signed by their club administrator confirming their registration status and date of birth
  • A birth certificate
  • Another form of provincial or federal ID

GAME FORMATS & DURATION:
All teams must be ready to kick-off by the scheduled match time. If for some reason games do not start within five minutes of the scheduled kick-off, the referee may have to cut playing time short so the match finishes on schedule.

There is no overtime played in any game and there is a minimal allowance for time added on which is at the discretion of the referee.

SCORES & STANDINGS (U13 to U18 Divisions):
The tournament will be scored on a 9-point system, as follows:

  • 5 points for a win
  • 2 points for a tie
  • 1 point per goal, up to a maximum of 3
  • 1 point for a shutout (0-0 counts as a shutout for both teams)

A “no-show” will result in the opponents being awarded nine points for a default win, scored at 3-0. Field marshals located at each venue are responsible for reporting scores, not the teams.

TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE:
In the event that there is a tie on points after round robin play, the following tie-breaking procedures will be used to determine:

a) the winner of the group where no championship game takes place and
b) team placement for the final round of games where a championship or consolation games occur.

If two teams are tied on all six tie-breaking criteria, a coin toss will be conducted to determine placing for the final round of play.

  1. Head to Head
    2. Most Wins
    3. Least Losses
    4. Most Shutouts
    5. Goal difference (a higher GD is better – no GD higher than +5 will be recorded in any game)
    6. FIFA Fair Play – team with the least discipline
  • All group games drawn at the end of regulation time will be recorded as a ‘tie’
  • Any consolation game drawn at the end of regulation time will be recorded as a tie.
  • Any ‘championship’ game that is drawn at the end of regulation time will move directly into FIFA Penalty kicks (i.e. best of 5).

UNIFORMS:
In the event that there is a color clash, the “Home Team” is obliged to change shirts. If the “Home Team” only carries one jersey, they will then be required to wear pinnies.

DISCIPLINE:
The KUFC adheres to FAIR PLAY codes and encourages all teams to play within the spirit and Laws of the Game. Players who are suspended (either as a result of an automatic suspension or as a result of a tournament organizing committee suspension) are not eligible to participate. Any player under suspension from their club at the time of the KYSA Slurpee Cup Tournament is not eligible to participate.

FOUL PLAY:

  • Players or team officials receiving two yellow cards in one game must serve an automatic one-game suspension in their next scheduled game in the tournament.
  • Players accumulating 3 yellow cards in total are automatically suspended from their next game.
  • In the event that a player or team official is dismissed from a game (red carded), that individual must leave the vicinity of the playing field.
  • Players receiving a red card (ejection from game) must serve an automatic one-game suspension.
  • In the event that a player or team official receives more than one red card or is ejected more than once during the tournament, the KYSA organizing committee shall convene to determine an appropriate course of action/penalty.
  • Referees are obliged to report all yellow and red card incidents.

PROTESTS:
The organizing committee will only accept protests regarding non-referee decisions

Protests will only be entertained if received in writing within one hour after the completion of the game in question. A $500.00 fee, payable in cash, must accompany all protests and be hand delivered to the KUFC Office. The protest MUST be signed by the team coach and can only be submitted by the team coach or manager. Protests and fees can be delivered to the tournament headquarters. The protest fee will be fully refunded if the protest in question is deemed valid.

The objective of this tournament is for players to have fun and enjoy playing the great game of soccer. While there is a competitive edge to any tournament, this is NOT a LIFE OR DEATH competition and should not be treated as such.

TECHNICAL AREAS:
The tournament organizers require teams to be located on the same side of the field in their designated technical areas with spectators on the opposite side of the field. All coaching must be conducted from within the designated technical areas. Please coach within the spirit of the game with respect for your opponents, the referees and your fellow coaches.

CONTINGENCIES:
In any competitive tournament involving mass participation, there are always problems, issues or challenges that arise which may not be covered in these rules. In this event, the KUFC will do everything in its power to make fair and unprejudiced decisions. The Association reserves the right to enact policies or issue decrees that will deal with unforeseen circumstances and/or situations.

CONDUCT:

There is a zero-tolerance policy for any form of verbal and/or physical abuse of any referee or tournament official by players, team officials, parents or spectators and the tournament will take any infraction seriously (potential suspension for entire event or team expulsion from the tournament)

Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves within the Laws of the Game and generally accepted good sportsmanship. Displays of temper or dissent are cause for ejection from the game and surrounding field area. Repeated violations may result in the suspension/expulsion of the team in question.

It is the responsibility of the Club/Team staff to control the conduct of its parents and other spectators. Failure to do so may result in a warning to the coach or person acting on the coach’s behalf.

If unacceptable behaviour persists, the referee may terminate the match.

All participants should be aware that Field Marshals have the authority and right to remove any unruly or uncivil spectators from the game field perimeter and/or the field complex area.

Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are permitted at any of our parks.

  • No refunds will be provided and KUFC is not responsible for team’s out of pocket expenses in the event that the tournament is cancelled due to weather. In lieu of a refund, the tournament may provide a credit (full or partial) for a future tournament.

FAILURE TO SHOW & FORFEITS:

  • A team that is not ready to start the game within 5 minutes of the scheduled time is considered to have forfeited the game.
  • In no case shall a team, which forfeits a game, be declared a group winner
  • If an apparent group winner forfeits a game, the team with the next best record shall be determined the group winner
  • If a team is the cause for the termination of a game, that team will be considered to have forfeited the game. This decision may not be protested
