U13 teams who have already transitioned to 11v11 play will be permitted to register in the U14 division should they wish. In this case we would recommend that teams register in a lower level of play to account for the fact that they are playing older teams.

Tiering:
The Slurpee Cup is primarily a BC Soccer Provincial A & B Cup level tournament and accepts teams from multiple provinces, territories and states. To better help you establish the most appropriate level of play for your team we are simplifying our registration by using Tiers 1 & 2. Please review your age group carefully to register and place your team correctly.

U9 to U10 = ONE tier of play:

  • Development

U11 to U13 = TWO tiers of play:

  • Tier 1 (top level development teams)
  • Tier 2 (mid-range development teams)

U14 to U18 = TWO tiers of play:

  • Tier 1: For teams competing at a BC Soccer Provincial A Cup level (Tier 1 in Alberta).
  • Tier 2: For teams competing at BC Soccer Provincial B Cup level (Tier 2 in Alberta).
  • PDP (BCSPL / APDL) teams are to register in Tier 1 of the year older.

IMPORTANT: Ensure the placement of your team is accurate at the time of registration. The tournament will not be responsible if you register in the wrong age and/or level. We cannot promise that we can move your team later, if you register incorrectly. If you are unsure of your tiering, email office@kufc.ca for assistance.

KUFC reserves the right to combine or modify divisions and may do so should registration numbers require.

Scheduling:
We will attempt to accommodate teams with significant travel with later games on Saturday and earlier games on Monday however we DO NOT guarantee that requests for any scheduling changes will be met.  As such, teams must plan for their travel and accommodation based on the scheduling parameters below.

  • Saturday and Sunday – Earliest kick-off is 9am, latest kick-off is 7:30pm.
  • Monday – Earliest kick-off is 8:00am, latest kick-off is 3:00pm.

We make every effort in our scheduling to provide ‘fair’ kick-off times across divisions and to accommodate those teams with the furthest travel however teams should be prepared to kick-off at any of the times listed above.

Group Formats:
The following formats are followed in the U13 to U18 divisions to determine champions and runners-up:

  •  Groups with 4 teams: Teams play each other once. At the end of round-robin play, the team in 1st place will play the team in 2nd place in the final. The teams finishing in 3rd and 4th Place will play a consolation game. The champions and runners-up in the final receive medals.
  •  Groups with 5 teams: Teams play each other once in a round-robin format. The team finishing in 1st-place in the standings after all games are complete will receive champions medals. The team finishing in 2nd place will receive runners-up medals. If two teams are tied for 1st place on all tie-breaking criteria, the two teams will be declared co-champions.
  •  Groups with 6 teams: In a random draw each team will play three of the other teams in the group. The standings after the three games will determine the seeding for the championship and consolations games. The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in the standings will play in the championship game. The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in the standings will play in the 3rd/4th match and so on.
  •  Groups with 7, 9, 11, or 13 teams: In a random draw, each team will play four of the other teams in the group. The team amassing the most points will be declared champions; the team finishing with the second-highest points will receive runners-up medals. If two teams are tied on all tie-breaking criteria, the two teams will be declared co-champions.
  •  Groups with 8 teams: Teams are divided equally into Pool A and Pool B. A team will play the other three teams in its pool once. The teams finishing in 1st Place in Pool A will play the team finishing in 1st Place in Pool B, in the final. 2nd in Pool A will play 2nd in Pool B, 3rd in Pool A will play third in Pool B, 4th in Pool A will play 4th in Pool B, in consolation games.
  •  Groups with 10 or 14 teams: In a random draw, each team will play THREE of the other teams in the group. The first placed team will play the second placed team for Gold, 3rd vs 4th etc. for consolation games.
  •  Groups with 12 teams: Teams are divided equally into Pool A, Pool B, Pool C, & Pool D. A team will play the other two teams in its pool once. The teams finishing in 1st Place in each pool will advance to the championship bracket (A1 vs B1, C1 vs D1).  Winner of A1/B1 and C1/D1 games play in Championship game.  Loser of A1/B1 and C1/D1 game play in third place game.  All other teams play in consolation games leading to final tournament standings.
